Am I supposed to carry all this?
This month we're doing something a little different.
It's called HOLD THE LINE, and it's for anyone who has felt the specific, quiet exhaustion of juggling everything — work, family, faith, finances, your own health — and still feeling like you're somehow behind on all of it.
If that's you, I want you to hear something before we go any further: feeling behind doesn't mean you're failing. It usually means you're carrying weight without help.
That's where we're starting.
You're Not Failing. You're Unsupported.
Most people who feel constantly behind are not lazy and not undisciplined. They are doing a lot — showing up, providing, present even when exhausted. So why does it feel like failure?
Because somewhere along the way, most of us absorb a quiet lie: that a capable, good person should be able to carry everything — the job, the relationship, the kids, the house, the faith — without strain, without help, and without ever setting any of it down. And when the weight shows, the conclusion isn't "I'm carrying too much." It's "I'm not enough."
That's not a scheduling problem. It's a support problem. And it's the first thing this month is going after.
3 Things Hiding in Your Load
The weight you inherited
Expectations nobody ever actually questioned — about how much you should be able to handle, what a "together" life is supposed to look like, what you owe to everyone around you. A lot of this weight was never chosen. It was just absorbed. The weight you added
The yeses that should have been no's. The commitments that sounded reasonable in the moment and have been quietly draining you ever since. Some of your load is simply more than you needed to take on.The weight that isn't yours
Other people's outcomes, feelings, and choices that you've quietly taken responsibility for. You can care deeply about someone without carrying what's actually theirs to carry.
The Question to Sit With
What am I carrying that was never mine to hold?
Don't rush past that. Let it sit for a minute.
Practical Action
This week, do one thing: write down everything you're currently carrying — work, relationships, kids, money, faith, your body. Don't filter it. Just list it.
Then circle the one item you've never honestly brought to God, or to another person who could actually help carry it. Bring it to them this week. Out loud, specifically — not a passing mention.
Prayer
"God — I've been carrying some of this like it's mine to hold alone. I'm naming it today. Help me bring it to you, and to the people you've put around me, instead of carrying it by myself. Amen."
This Week on the Podcast
Episode 1 of HOLD THE LINE — "The Weight You're Carrying" — is live now. We're in Matthew 11:28–30, and we use Abraham Lincoln's Civil War years as a picture of what it costs to carry weight alone, and what changes when you don't.
This week's resource is "The Weight Inventory" Worksheet, a simple tool for naming everything you're carrying and identifying where you've been carrying it alone.
Hit reply and tell me: what's one thing on your list you've been carrying alone that doesn't have to be?
I read every response. I'm praying for you this month.
One step at a time.
