Are You a Know It All?

Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.

Proverbs 9:9, NIV

Why is staying teachable so important?

  • What you got HERE cannot get you where you are HEADED. Staying teachable ensures that leaders can continuously improve their skills, knowledge, and effectiveness.

  • Our Progress Inspires not our Perfection. Leaders who demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow inspire their team members to do the same.

  • It’s difficult to remain UNTEACHABLE and ETHICAL at the same time. Being open to new information and perspectives can guide leaders in making more informed and morally sound decisions.

How do you stay teachable?

  • Seek Mentorship: Find mentors who can offer guidance and wisdom. Learn from their experiences and be open to their advice. Mentors can provide a roadmap for navigating challenges and opportunities in leadership.

    • Hebrews 13:7 encourages us to "Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith."

  • Cultivate Curiosity: Be curious about new ideas and perspectives. Read widely, attend workshops, and engage in conversations that challenge your thinking. Curiosity drives us to seek out knowledge and to continually expand our understanding.

    • Proverbs 18:15 says, "The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out."

  • Practice Humility: Recognize that you don't have all the answers. Be willing to admit when you're wrong and learn from your mistakes. Humility is the foundation of a teachable spirit.

    • Philippians 2:3-4 instructs us, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

Remember: One step at time. Faith Forward.
