Before You Fix Them... Have You Checked Yourself?

Got 3 minutes? Cultivate Inner Unity

Maybe I need to fix confront something in me…

Before we can build unity in our homes, churches, or communities—we have to start somewhere deeper. We have to start with ourselves. Not with a strategy. Not with a strong opinion. But with the condition of our own heart.

“Live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

Ephesians 4:1, Paul

He’s not talking about impressing others or achieving moral perfection. He’s talking about alignment—living in such a way that your external life reflects the internal calling you’ve received from God. That’s integrity. And it’s the starting line of unity.

Because let’s be honest—most division doesn’t start in a room full of people. It starts in the quiet corners of the human heart: Resentment. Pride. Jealousy. Control.
Before long, those private tensions spill into our conversations, our relationships, and our communities.

Unity doesn’t begin when we call others out for how they’re acting—it begins when we call ourselves up to a higher standard.
It’s formed in the small, unseen moments:

  • When you choose to pause before firing back in frustration.

  • When you check your heart before confronting someone else.

  • When you ask the Holy Spirit to search you—before you demand change from someone else.

That’s the heart of spiritual maturity. And that’s the kind of self-leadership that builds true unity—from the inside out.

Ask Yourself:

  • What’s shaping my mindset today—God’s voice or culture’s noise?

  • Who do I need to be patient with today?

  • Where can I choose humility instead of control?

Call to Action:

  • Do the 3-minute check-in each morning this week. Journal your answers. Watch what changes—inside you and around you.

    • Remember: You don’t drift into unity. You lead your way into it—one decision, one interaction, one surrendered moment at a time.
